About Dan WilkinsonThe Landscape is where it’s at for Dan Wilkinson. Living & having a studio on Wellington’s south coast is inspiring with his coastal and hill line views, which are now notable in his new creation’s. “My intentions are to capture both the physical and spiritual energy of the land, We live in an incredible country, with such a diverse landscape, I am interested in stripping back the land and capturing what is unseen, what makes it so powerful” Capturing the essence of his surroundings has lead to a more specific passion for the islands of New Zealand & the stories of the land. Dan enjoys using a range of mediums, to describe what he see’s & feel’s. “At the moment Oil on board is something that im really loving, I also love the spontaneity of pen on paper, & the way you can create anywhere” Teaching at New Zealands largest art provider is a also a big influence. Dan has been teaching at the Learning Connexion for over a decade, & loves passing on the knowledge he has obtained, “facilating a class environment of creativity is a huge honour, something I continue to enjoy” Dan’s major influences include the great painters, Monet, Dali, Turner and N.Z artists Rob’ert Franken, Rita Angus, Colin MaCahon, and Bill Hammond.
